Mario Gomez’s first half double put Bayern Munich two points clear at the top of this pool and maintained their 100% record in Europe so far this season. It was too much for Manchester City to come back from, but the headlines were stolen by Carlos Tevez and the furore over allegations that he refused to play in the fixture.
